Paradip terminal breaks loading record

Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT) recently set a new loading record when handling the bulk carrier Dong Minh, which had been chartered by the high-performing Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to ship over 16,000 tonnes of export steel slabs bound for Thailand on 4th February 2021.

PICT says it did extensive planning before the vessel berthed to provide suitable storage and ensure safe loading of the cargo on the ship. During the operation, PICT achieved the record loading rate of 12,184 tonnes in 24 hours, surpassing its previous record of 10,936 tonnes set last September. SAIL indicated it was pleased with the “operational excellence” of PICT and reiterated its commitment to increase volumes shipped from Paradip for all its premium products.
